Himachal demands additional 14100 MT of sugar

Mandi Member of Parliament Pratibha Singh called on union food minister KV Thomas in Krishi Bhawan New Delhi and requested him to allocate additional 14100 MT of sugar to the state to overcome immediate shortage of sugar in the state. She requested the union minister to continue with the current system of quota allocation for a period of three more months to switch over to new system in phased manner.

Singh said that the Himachal Pradesh civil supply corporation limited, the nodal agency for procurement of sugar, has been making all efforts to procure sugar from open market and requested him to intervene in the matter personally as ration card holders in the state has not been provided sugar since June 2013 in the state.
