BJP launches weeklong protest against vendetta politics in Himachal

To oppose Congress government’s vendetta politics in Himachal Pradesh, opposition BJP has launched a weeklong protest “Badla-Badli Virodh Saptah” across the state from Monday. As proposed state BJP would hold protest in all the 12 districts of state till 19th of August and on August 23, BJP has planned to demonstrate massive protest outside the state assembly. Leader of opposition Prem Kumar Dhumal would lead the party leaders in holding protests in front of the deputy commissioner offices in all the districts.

In the wake of party’s “Badla-Badli Virodh Saptah” BJP protestors hold protest in many parts of the state. In Nurpur organisational district staged a dharna and held a protest demonstration in front of the SDM’s office. The demonstration was led by district BJP president Arjun Thakur. Workers from four Nurpur, Jawali, Fatehpur and Indora Assembly segments joined the protest.

Before submitting a memorandum to the Governor through the local SDM, a rally was organised by the BJP activists which was addressed by state BJP spokesperson and former Rajya Sabha MP Kripal Parmar and district BJP president Arjun Singh. They lambasted the Virbhadra Singh government for defaming and framing state leaders of the party in false cases and alleged that it was working in political vendetta against BJP supporters.

In Mandi, senior BJP leaders, Jogindenagar MLA Gulab Singh Thakur and Seraj MLA Jai Ram Thakur lead the protest and accused the Congress regime under Virbhadra Singh of targeting BJP workers and employees transferring them time and again on political considerations. BJP leaders alleged that the Congress regime was busy in transferring and implicating BJP workers in false cases. The prices of commodities had gone through the roof as corruption in the UPA government at the Centre was at its peak, they alleged.

Leader of opposition Prem Kumar Dhumal blamed the Congress government for registering false cases against BJP leaders while workers are being harassed through transfers. He said that ever since Congress came to power, it has been probing decisions of the previous regime in the state, especially those related to land cases. While it has cancelled the lease deed of land allotted to Patanjali Yogapeeth, the case of granting permission to Supreme Court lawyer and social activist Prashant Bhushan to buy tea garden land in Kangra district is still on. He also accused Virbhadra Govt for falsely implicating BJP leaders like Rajiv Bindal in false and 15 years old case. He said that Congress was doing a politics of victimization and harassing party workers.
