GameOut

The city of Shimla saw a huge crowd of gamers on 14 and 15th September as young geeks took part Shimla’s first ever PC gaming competition split in two separate genres.

Organized by DamnGeeky this event is powered by Arena Animation Shimla and goes by the name GameOut and a tagline “Gaming Frenzy Unleashed” which in itself sums up the theme of this extravaganza. The competition featured two games – FIFA 13 and Dirt 3, which are quite popular among amateur as well as professional gamers and have been solely chosen on basis of votes by young gamers in the city.

The sole purpose of the event is to bring young people together and create a platform for creative activities that will happen in the future. GameOut is a free entry format for children from the age group of 14 – 20 years and is a sole proprietor of DamnGeeky. The two day event took place at Sarab Complex, (Old CCD) Sanjauli, Shimla and over 100 participants took part in the event. On the first day, i.e. Sept 14th, the preliminary rounds took place and on the consecutive day, Sept 15th, quarterfinals, semifinals, and finals of the both games were held.

This event is just the beginning of many more events to come that will include robotics workshops, FPS gaming events, Motion controller gaming events, DIY (Do It Yourself), and many more. The motive to select gaming as the main attraction for youth is to make them aware of the time and effort put into developing games by graphics designers, animators, software developers, and VFX artists.
