The Annual General Meeting of Special Olympics Bharat, Himachal Pradesh was held today at the Gaiety Theater, Shimla. The chairperson Special Olympics, Dr. Mallika Nadda presented the annual report, highlighting the organization’s activities of the year.

Dr. Nadda revealed that Special Athletes of the state, who had representing India in the World Winter Games at Pyeong Chang, South Korea, won 22 medals including 5 Gold, 8 Silver & 9 Bronze. Dr. Nadda also thanked the state government for felicitating these Medal winners with a cash prize of Rs. 25000/- each on Independence Day.

It was also apprised that Healthy Athlete Programme was held at Solan and Kangra where health check up of 200 special athletes was done in collaboration with Fortis Hospital and Lions Club.

Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of India and Special Olympics Bharat HP organized state level All Disabled sports championship at Nahan in February 2013, in which 300 special athletes participated. 40 special athletes from the state will be selected for participating in the National All Disabled Sports Championship. Special Olympics Bharat Himachal Pradesh also organized Advance Coaches Training Program at Una in July 2013, in which 40 trainees from eight states participated.
