Shimla: Keeping in view the concerted and joint efforts of Police, intelligence, officials and staff of the Himachal Pradesh Public Service commission to expose a well organized racket of mask copying during Staff Selection Commission (SSC) written examination, a proposal will be sent to the State Government shortly to provide funds for installing Jammers in the examination centers.

Disclosing this here today, Chairman, H.P. Public Service Commission, K.S. Tomar said that a decision in this regard was taken in Commission’s meeting held recently under his Chairmanship. The members of the Commission who attended the meeting included Dr. D.C. Katoch and Prof. J.C.Sharma.

Tomar said that Commission had decided to take preventive steps to eliminate any chance of copying during various examinations like HAS, HJS, SLET etc.

He informed that Commission merely conducted the written examination of SSC which pertained to recruitment of Combined Graduate Level, Junior Engineer (Civil & Electrical) SI in CAPFs, ASIs in CISF etc. He said that there was a need to use technology to check any chance of copying hence there was a dire need of installing Jammers.

The Chairman also disclosed that emphasis would be on frisking of candidates during the examinations with the assistance of local Police at various examination centers in Himachal Pradesh. He said Invigilators would be sensitized to keep close watch of suspicious elements.

The H.P. Public Service Commission has also decided to revise the examination and Screening test fee to be charged from the candidate.

General category candidates will be charged Rs. 400 however SC/ST/OBC of H.P. will be charged Rs. 100. Further no fees will be charged from Ex-Servicemen of H.P. and Blind/Visually Impaired candidates of H.P. as per past practice.

As far as State Level Eligibility Test (SLET) Examination is concerned the revised fee structure of future examinations of SLET by the Commission will be Rs. 750 for general category candidates, Rs. 188 for SC/ST/OBC of H.P. and no fees will be charged for Ex-Serviceman of H.P. and Blind/Visually Impaired candidates of H.P.

The fee structure relating to SLET Examination will be applicable after the approval of the Steering Committee of SLET Examination as per the guidelines of UGC.

Further, the Commission has introduced Bar code instead of alphanumeric fictious Roll Numbers on answer sheets for ensuring better secrecy and transparency.
