HPCA questions Co-op Societies’ jurisdiction to issue a show-cause notice

The Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA) in its reply before the Registrar of Cooperative Societies questioned its jurisdiction to issue a show-cause notice to the sports body. HPCA said that since it was no longer a society, but a company, Registrar has no jurisdiction to issue show cause notice to it. HPCA, in its reply claimed that the sports body was governed by the Company Act and not the Societies Act.

Registrar RD Nazeem has fixed the next date of hearing on October 3, and direct sports body to come up with arguments before him along with the entire proceedings of the sports body since it came into being.

Earlier, the HP High Court, in response to a petition filed by the HPCA on August 19, had directed HPCA to appear before the Registrar and file its reply.
