Sangam Sur Sangeet Ka

Shimla: Ankush Bhardwaj, won the first edition of “Sangam Sur Sangeet Ka”organised by Cedar Production, a glittering event at The Gaiety Theater Shimla. He was given a cash prize of one lakh rupees and a memento from the Organiser.

Vanita Thakur and Poonam Sharma were adjudged first and second runner-up respectively and received INR 50,000 and 20,000. Kanak Joshi and Deepak Chauhan adjudged fourth and fifth in the competition.

In this competition over 400 singers from the different parts of the state participated and only 150 made to the second round. From 150 only top fourteen were selected for the semi-final, which was held at Gaiety Theater Shimla yesterday and five best singers, Vanita Thakur, Kanak Joshi from Solan district, Poonam Sharma and Ankush Bhardwaj from Shimla district and Deepak Chauhan from Sirmour district made to the finals.

Uvie, Bollywood playback singer, Gopal Sharma, renowned Himachali folk singer, Sarita Bushehri, Kartik Sharma and Narender Nittu, both of Indian Idol 2007 fame were the Judges of the event.

Earlier today, event started with the mesmerizing dance performance by LDIPA, Lalit Dhaulta’s institute for the performing arts, and followed by the first round of the performance by the contestants. Though Ankush Bhadwaj seemed clear winner of the event, but Vanita Thakur and Poonam Sharma’s performance in the second round gave Judges a tough time to choose the winner.

Hundreds of music lovers witnessed the first edition of Sangam Sur Sangeet Ka, who were praising the initiative of Cedar Production and hoping that it’ll help budding singers to give initial platform.

Chief Guest of the occasion Harish Janartha praised the singing talent and ensured all possible help from the state government. He said that Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh is keen to promote budding talent of the state and wanted to give befitting platform to them.
