New Delhi: Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh on Friday said that the time has come to announce Rahul Gandhi’s name as the Prime Ministerial candidate for the Congress.

Senior Congress leader Virbhadra Singh stated that it’s the right time to project Rahul Gandhi as the Prime Ministerial candidate for the Congress.

Singh said that Rahul Gandhi has a tradition of Congress party, tradition of family value. He believed that Gandhi will become good leader.

He also downplayed the challenge of Narendra Modi in the General Elections and stated that media has made a Modi hype.

Virbhadra Singh had steered Congress to a victory in 2012 Himachal Pradesh Assembly elections single handedly and became chief minister of the state for the sixth time. Now his remarks advocating the projection of Rahul Gandhi as party’s Prime Minister comes at a time when the Congress Vice President’s role in party affairs have remarkably grown, which was also witnessed during the passage of Lokpal Bill as Rahul took the lead.
