Winter Session: Opposition demands debate on allegations against CM

Tapovan: On the fifth day of winter session, the opposition once again protested in the house, demanding debate on the personal allegations against Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh through adjournment motion. Virbhadra Singh was not present in the house as he was away to Delhi on an official tour.

As soon as the House assembled, Rikhi Ram Kaundal raised the matter, urging the Speaker to allow the adjournment motion moved by 14 BJP members to discuss the personal allegations carried in newspapers against the chief minister.

However speaker rejected the adjournment motion and this agitates opposition. Kaundal said that charges had been made against the Chief Minister. Responding to this Speaker said that on the sole basis of news reports adjournment motion could not be allowed.

Rajeev Bindal, Ravinder Singh Ravi and other opposition members protested against it and whole opposition led by former chief minister Prem Kumar Dhumal were on their feet and raised slogans in the house. The house proceedings continued amidst the protest.

Health Minister Kaul Singh Thakur countered their plea and said that the Tarni Infrastructure Limited was a listed company and legally anyone could have shares in it.
