Former Chief Minister and Leader of the Opposition in the Vidhan Sabha Prem Kumar Dhumal, his both son Anurag Thakur and Arun Dhumal termed the defamation suit of Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh as a ploy to buy time to continue in office.

While addressing media personnel at Una, Prem Kumar Dhumal said that it’s just to mislead the Congress high command. He refuted Singh charges of phone tapping and other and clarified that the intelligence agencies undertook phone tapping on the issues of security and that the taped conversations were destroyed after six months.

He also accused Virbhadra Singh for twisting the facts on Sai Kothi power project. He alleged that while development had come to standstill, the Congress government was merely indulging in inquiries against its political opponents and with the current scenario he’s speculating mid-term polls.

Dhumal’s elder son, Anurag Thakur, who is also named in the defamation suit, challenged the Chief Minister to refer the case to the CBI if he believed that the allegations against him were wrong. He ridiculed the CM’s allegations against him and termed them political vendetta.

Arun Dhumal, younger son of Dhumal, welcomed the defamation case, but termed it delaying tactics to be in the office.

In a press conference at Shimla, Arun Dhumal raised another issue, ownership of Mehrauli farmhouse, which is the office of Maple Destination and Dream Build, a company owned by CM’s son and daughter. Arun asked Chief Minister to clear the air about the ownership and money paid for the purchase of the 2.25 acre farmhouse.
