Forest Minister Thakur Singh Bharmouri revealed that the National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) had deposited Rs. 226.35 crore in CAMPA Fund for declaring 685 hectare forest land adjoining to Majathal forest wildlife area to forest wildlife sanctuary under Wildlife Protection Act, 1972 as per the conditions of National Wildlife Board. He said that it also includes 500 hectare forest land which was habitat of rare species of Chaihar pheasant besides declaring 11.53 square kilometers forest land adjoining to the Chandertal Wildlife Sanctuary as Sanctuary.

Bharmouri said that the State would get funds from the amount deposited in the CAMPA Fund and the remaining money would be utilized for management of different developmental activities for conservation of wildlife in Himachal Pradesh. He said that State Government had been able to get this amount due to concerted efforts made during last one year adding that it was a big achievement of the State Government for welfare of wildlife in the State.
