Fulfilling the promise made during in election manifesto, Congress led state government has given a big relief for the houseless and landless poor of the State as the Government has taken a landmark decision to allot land to them for construction of houses. A decision has been taken to provide three Biswas of land in rural areas and two Biswas land in urban areas for such families and for those families too who are not figured in the BPL list.

The historic decision was being seen as a great relief to the houseless persons and families. The step was taken to provide relief to fulfill the requirements of numerous landless people in the State who had been applying to the Government.

It’s first time in the history of the State that such a decision has been taken. All such families whose annual income is up to Rs 50,000 or less or whose entire land has been washed away in floods and are left with no suitable land for construction of residential houses shall be eligible.

As per the Government decision the land allotted would be mutated in the name of both husband and wife and the house built on such land would not be transferred by the allottee. He said that in case the allotted land or the house built thereupon is transferred to the other person by the allottee or his legal heirs, the allotment so made shall be cancelled and the land shall vest with the State Government.

The land would be allotted out of the surplus land available in the districts under various schemes of the Government. The Deputy Commissioners have been directed to take initiatives and implement the scheme to fulfill the Government announcement and send monthly report in this regard. Apart from this the Divisional Commissioners would monitor the entire process of allotment on monthly basis and inform the Government.

Apart from this the Government has also enhanced the financial assistance under State Housing scheme from Rs 48,500 to Rs 75,000 to benefit the houseless poor. The decisions would go a long way in providing relief to the poor houseless families to realize their dreams come true.
