Shimla: Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee President Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu welcomed the decision of Congress led UPA government for extending Special Package of Industrial Incentive to the state till March 31, 2017.

In a statement, Sukhu also praised the efforts of Congress led Himachal government for pursuing the issue at various levels in Centre government.

Welcoming the move of Congress led UPA government, HPCC spokesperson Naresh Chauhan said that this move will usher in a new era of industrialisation in the state and the Special Package of Industrial Incentive will give much needed impetus to the existing and new industries of Himachal Pradesh.

“Now, new industrial units and existing units who wants to expand its units in Himachal will be eligible for Central capital units’ subsidy at 15% of their investment in plant and machinery,” Chauhan said, adding that it was possible due to the concerted efforts of Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh who had taken up the issue with the Union government at various levels.

Chauhan said that the move will lure private investors towards Himachal and in addition, it will also generate new employment opportunities for the unemployed youth of the state.

HPCC spokesperson said that this move will give a much needed fillip to the small and medium manufacturing enterprises in the state which in turn will strengthen the economy of Himachal Pradesh.
