In a tragic tourist bus accident, as many as twelve persons were reported killed and around 35 got injured. Accident happened when a tourist bus (UP 33AP-0178), they were travelling, failed to negotiate sharp curve and skidded off the road and fell into a deep gorge near Madhanaghat village on the Renuka Ji-Paonta Sahib road Monday evening.

Administration, with the help of local villagers, launched rescue operation in the evening, but as the ill fated bus was hung in the middle of a cliff causing problem to extricate bodies from it.

The injured had been admitted to the Nahan hospital, while some had been given first aid at the Dadahu Hospital.

The cause of the accident is not known yet. All tourists hailed from Saharanpur and were on their way back to their home.

Governor Urmila Singh, Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh and Nahan legislature Rajeev Bindal have expressed grief over the bus mishap.

Chief Minister ensured to provide all possible help to the dependents of the departed souls and those injured in the accident. He said that directions had been passed to the district administration to take rescue and relief operations on war footings. The administration has also been directed to provide all possible help for the treatment of the injured.
