Palampur: The state BJP core group meeting was convened at Palampur. It was the first core group meeting that was held after the Lok Sabha election.

BJP core group thanked the voters of the state for giving a historic mandate in favour of the party in recently concluded parliamentary election. Core group whole heartedly accepted the Modi wave and credited 53 percent votes, which was polled in favour of BJP candidates in the state, to Prime Minister Narender Modi charisma.

Upbeat with the electorates’ response, the BJP core group has decided that all four Himachal MPs and leader of opposition Prem Kumar Dhumal would meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi and seek a special package for the development of the state.

Core group also discussed the party and office bearer performance in the Lok Sabha election and aiming to further strengthen party base, the core group has decided to target the weak booths where the party did not perform well.

Core group condemned the alleged vendetta politics of Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh. BJP state President Satpal Satti, briefing press about the meeting, accused the state government for registering false cases against BJP leaders.

Satti claimed that the development had taken a back stage and many projects were delayed and condition of roads is deteriorating. He also accused the state government for patronising sand mafia.

The core group meeting was attended by senior BJP leaders including state party in-charge Balbir Punj, former Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal, BJP veteran and Kangra MP Shanta Kumar, State party president Satpal Satti, Rajiv Bindal, Vipin Parmar, Khimi Ram, Virender Kashyap, Pawan Rana, Randhir Sharma and Jai Ram Thakur. However, JP Nadda, Anurag Thakur, Bimla Kashyap and Ram Swaroop Shamra couldn’t attend the meeting, due to prior engagement.
