New Delhi: Transport Minister G.S. Bali informed that the Central Government has released an amount of Rs. 91 crore under Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM) to Himachal Pradesh.

Bali said that this amount had been provided to the State to purchase 800 new buses under JNNURM. He said that this amount has been released as a first installment.

Transport Minister thanked the Central Government for sanctioning the amount and expressed hope that the remaining amount would be released soon so that people of the State could get better transport facilities. He also lauded the efforts of all the officials of the Transport Corporation to get this amount released from the Centre.

Bali said that State Government was committed to provide better transport facilities to the people as well as tourists and efforts were afoot to improve infrastructure of the Corporation. He said that 500 new buses had been purchased to replace the old bus fleet of the Corporation with new buses. He said that maximum number of buses had been procured and the remaining would be purchased soon.

Transport Minister said that besides providing comfortable buses to the commuters, State Government was providing better civic and other facilities in all the bus stands in a phased manner. He said that passengers’ information boards would be displayed in all the bus stands of the State.

Bali said that State Government was focusing on strengthening transport facilities in the State so that passengers do not face any inconvenience.
