The Health Department rebuttal the news of reduction of seats in MBBS courses in Indira Gandhi Medical College, Shimla and Dr. Rajendra Prasad Government Medical College, Tanda.

In a official press statement, the spokesperson the Health Department claimed that the State Government had not received any communication from Government of India regarding reduction of seats in both colleges.

Health Department termed the news appeared in a section of press regarding reduction of seats in MBBS courses of both medical colleges misleading and not based on the facts.

Department clarified that Medical Council of India (MCI) carried out inspections of both the medical colleges and a report was submitted by MCI team to Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India with its findings.

Spokesman said that no observation had been conveyed to the State Government or respective Medical Colleges. He assured that State Government would give due weightage to the observations of the MCI and if required necessary improvement would be carried out.
