Congress veteran and Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh has slammed Rajya Sabha MP Viplove Thakur for her demand to fix accountability on ministers and chairmen for party’s debacle in recently-concluded parliamentary election.

Virbhadra Singh sarcastically remarked at Viplove Thakur and made clear that persons sitting in the air-conditioned rooms cannot judge the ground reality.

Virbhadra Singh also described Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee’s move to dissolve the 34 Block Congress Committees, which was dissolve on the criterion of BJP lead of over 5,000 votes in the LS poll, as the decision taken in haste. He said that instead of the dissolving the block units, HPCC should have taken remedial measures.

Singh said that there were many blocks where Congress had improved drastically than the previous assembly elections and that should have been taken into consideration.

Earlier, Viplove Thakur had criticised the HPCC decision of dissolving 34 Block Congress Committees and asked state party president to fix accountability on ministers and chairmen for party’s debacle.

Asha Kumari, the AICC secretary and sitting legislature, has also criticized state president move to dissolve block units. Supporting Viplove version, senior congress leader stated that these block committees had ensured the formation of Congress regime in the state in December 2012.

Asha also questioned why senior leaders, who were responsible for Lok Sabha candidate selection, were not being made accountable for the poll debacle. She also questioned the criteria of pick and choose for dissolving block committees.

Dalhousie legislature advised party leaders to focus on strengthening the party and taking corrective measures.
