Riding high on the record power generation, the SJVN has earned record revenue of Rs. 2110.72 crore as against Rs. 1927.36 crore and a net profit of Rs. 1114.36 crore during the year 2013-14. Buoyant with the overwhelming results, the SJVN, in its Annual General Meeting, approved a dividend of Rs.0.98 per share (Rs.405.39 crore) as against the dividend of Rs.0.96 per share (Rs.397.12 crore) for the previous year. This is the highest ever dividend paid by SJVN since commissioning of its flagship 1500 MW Nathpa Jhakri Hydro Power Station in 2003-04. Equity holders Govt. of India will get a dividend of Rs.261.35 crore (64.47%), Govt. of Himachal Pradesh Rs. 103.37 crore (25.50%) and the public shareholders will get Rs. 40.66 crore (10.3%). The dividend yield on the Company’s shares is also one of the best amongst the Power Sector PSUs. SJVN’s shares were listed on the stock exchanges on 20th May, 2010.
During the year 2013-14, SJVN’s 1500MW Nathpa Jhakri Power Station (NJHPS) continued to achieve new milestones of generation. The plant generated 7193.77 MUs of energy and exceeded design energy of 6612 MUs at a record Normative Plant Availability Factor of 105.75%. The power station also established a record by generating 39.147 million units of electricity in a single day on 29th May, 2013 against the highest single day generation of 39.015 MUs on 27th July 2012.
The construction work of company’s Rampur HEP was completed during the year and unit wise commissioning commenced w.e.f. 20th March 2014 with the synchronization of its first 68.67 MW unit with the northern grid. Synchronization and commercial operations of 3 units and 1 unit has been accomplished on 13th May 2014 and 18th June 2014 respectively.
The 47.6 MW Khrivere Wind Energy Plant was also completed and commissioned successfully during the year and energy generation of 3.32 MUs was achieved from the Project up to 31.03.2014.
SJVN also signed a MoU with Druk Green Power Corporation, a PSE of Royal Govt. of Bhutan on 23-04-2014 for carrying out pre-construction activities for development of Kholongchhu Hydroelectric Power Project (600MW) till formation of Joint Venture Company in Bhutan. The foundation stone of the Project was laid by Shri Narendra Modi, Hon’ble Prime Minister of India on 16th June 2014.
12% of the power generated at this power station is supplied free of cost to Himachal Pradesh while 25% of the remaining generation is supplied at generation cost. The remaining power is supplied to nine (9) states of the northern grid namely Haryana, J&K, Punjab, Rajasthan, UP, Uttrakhand, Delhi and Chandigarh.
During the first quarter of the Financial Year 2014-15, ended 30th June 2014, 2404.587 MUs of power has been generated out of which NJHPS generated 2160.788 MUs, RHEP generated 236.215 MUs and Khirvere Wind Power Project generated 7.584 MUs. On 16th June 2014 the NJHPS achieved highest daily generation record of 39.161 MUs.
During the financial year 2014-15, SJVN targets to generate 7920 MUs of power under “Excellent” parameters, out of which 6900 MUs is targeted from NJHPS, 950 MUs from RHEP and 70 MUs from Khirvere Wind Power Project. The target revenue realization from sale of energy is Rs.1820 crore from NJHPS, RHEP and Khirvire Wind Power Project collectively.
SJVN Limited aslo signed a Memorandum of Agreement for the implementation of 80 MW Doimukh Hydro Electric Project in Arunachal Pradesh. The 80MW (2x40MW) Doimukh Hydro Electric Project will be implemented at a cost of Rs 739.58 crore as run-of-river scheme on river Pare in Arunachal Pradesh. The Project will generate 291.57 MU of electricity in a 90% dependable year. Thirteen (13%) of the electricity generated will be provided to Arunachal Pradesh free of cost and the balance sold to other beneficiaries. The project is estimated to be completed in 5 and 1/2 years time frame including pre construction activities of 18 months.
SJVN had been entrusted with the works of survey & investigation works for preparation of Pre- Feasibility Report (PFR) of this project in 2012 and the company has successfully completed the same and submitted to the Govt. of Arunachal Pradesh for technical evaluation in July 2014.
