Himachal Pradesh Congress holds a meeting of Social Media Department and decided to develop Social Media structure at block and district level to involve office bearers of Block Congress Committee (BCC) and District Congress Committee (DCC).

Himachal Congress President Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu stressed for the need to involve office bearers on Social Media sites to help connecting more people with the party. Sukhu said

“Social Media has become a strong tool for publicising the ideology and policies of the party and the schemes of the state government as well. There is a need for utilising social networking sites effectively for the purpose to connect more and more people with the party,”

State Congress President said that all the BCCs and DCCs would be connected through social networking sites like Facebook and Whatsapp to give people a chance to connect with their leaders and representatives and they will also be responsible to give updates regarding their functioning and other developmental schemes of the state government to general public through their respective pages on social networking sites.

He said that nowadays general public as well as younger generation is more active on social media platforms and we need to start popularising the ideology, policies and programs of Congress party and also the people centric policies of the state government. “Keeping in mind the popularity of social media platforms, it becomes imperative for the party to connect with them and strengthen our Social Media departments. We should connect with younger generation through these mediums and increase our support base among them,” he said.

He added that it is important for all legislatures, office bearers of party’s bodies and party workers to join social media platforms and connect more and more youth and people with party’s ideology and functioning.

Sukhu also discussed the strategy for popularizing Himachal Congress on social media platforms and also took suggestions from office bearers as to how the party can widen its reach among online media savvy younger generation.

The meeting was attended by HPCC spokesperson Sanjay Singh Chauhan and Ashish Butail were also present at the meeting.
