New Delhi: Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Minister Anil Sharma today called on Union Rural Development Minister Birender Singh Chaudhary at New Delhi and raised the demand to enhance the daily wages of MNREGA workers of the State to Rs. 170 at par with other workers of the State

Sharma apprised the Union Minister that Rs. 670.71 crore had been approved for Himachal Pradesh under labour component in MNREGA during current financial year but so far only Rs. 355.43 crore had been allocated which was adversely effecting the implementation of MNREGA Programme in the State.

Minister demanded the Union Minister to release the balance amount at the earliest so that impetus could be given to the MNREGA activities.

He also requested to keep the MNREGA as demand basis programme instead of making it on allocation basis so that hilly States like Himachal Pradesh could take benefit maximum out of it.

He also apprised the Union Minister that Himachal Pradesh Vidhan Sabha has passed an unanimous resolution had been sent for the approval of Central Government.

The Union Minister assured Anil Sharma to considered state’s demands.
