Nauni/Solan: Himachal Congress President Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has demanded Union Government to grant National Horticulture University status to Dr. Yashwant Singh Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry, Solan.

Congress president, in a Block Congress Committee Solan meeting at Nauni today, said that the Nauni University has contributed a lot in raising the economy of the people of the state by introducing new researches and innovative techniques. Sukhu said

“Besides innovation in the field of horticulture, the varsity has also helped in making Himachal the fruit bowl of the country and it has also contributed in providing alternate source of income to lakhs of people of the state,”

“I have written a letter to Union Health Minister J P Nadda seeking inquiry into the case as why MMU was given permission to run 150 seats college as the Medical College even lacks basic infrastructure to run such facility,”

Congress State president also rued the reduction of medical seats in the Indira Gandhi Medical College and Dr Rajinder Prasad Government Medical College, Tanda.
