Shimla: Giving rest to all speculations and political gossips, Veteran Congress leader and sitting Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh proposed his son Vikramaditya Singh as the next probable candidate for next assembly elections from Shimla Rural constituency.

Virbhadra Singh, while addressing a gathering comprising of the employees of Shimla Rural Assembly segment and the party office bearers at his official residence Oak Over, here today, said that the people should not think that he was leaving Shimla Rural Assembly constituency, instead he would continue to give equal attention to Shimla Rural constituency as well.

Singh, however, vow to contest from a seat which the Congress Party had never won. ‘I have got plenty of love from the people of the Shimla Rural, as I got from my own traditional home constituency” said Virbhadra Singh.

He gave the credit of the development of Shimla Rural Assembly segment to the employees who worked committedly day and night for achieving the given targets and also the people for extending full support for accomplishing the developmental projects.

Vikramaditiya Singh is in active politics since 2011. In November 2011, Vikramaditya Singh had successfully contested State Youth Congress election and won with a huge margin of 3485 Votes. But, his election was declared null and void by the Foundation for Advanced Management of Elections (FAME) and also debarred him from contesting again. Vikramaditya Singh again successfully contested fresh election for the state youth congress with record 5182 votes, in November 2013.

He campaigned for the Congress party in 2012 Assembly election and also active during the 2014 Parliamentary election. Being a Youth Congress president, Vikramaditya regularly visiting the state and fostering his support. However, he is still getting good competition, within the party, from Raghubir Singh Bali, son of transport Minister GS Bali.
