Shimla police today arrested two Punjab resident with Rs. 1.40 lakh fake currency of Rs. 2, 000 denomination notes at Shoghi barrier, 15 km from Shimla city.

Accused, identified as Daulat Singh and Harnek Singh of Ferozepur in Punjab, were returning to Chandigarh and arrested when they tried to cheat a Dhaba owner with a fake Rs. 2, 000 note. Dhaba owner got suspicious and alerted police. The police then laid a naka at the Shoghi barrier, and arrested accused with 70 notes of fake currency worth Rs1.40 lakh.

The police is now questioning the accused. Police confirmed that accused had come to Shimla in a car PB-05Y-6341 yesterday to circulate fake notes and were on their way back. Now the Police questioning to know from where they procured the fake currency, and which places in Shimla had they used it during their stay.
