The Himachal Pradesh Election department today directed all the Deputy Commissioners-cum-District Election Commissioners to complete preparations for the forthcoming Assembly Elections 2017 in the state at the earliest.

Chief Electoral Officer Himachal Pradesh Pushpendra Rajput today conducted video conference with Deputy Commissioners-cum-District Election Officers of the state and reviewed preparedness of election machinery for ensuing assembly elections.

Rajput asked Deputy Commissioners to complete all the modules enshrined in RoNET and also booth level planning for smooth conduct of election process. RoNET is a web-based application – used by ECI, CEO, DEO and RO to enable them to know what exactly they are required to do and when; without burdening them with an additional reporting forum.

He asked Deputy Commissioners to speed up decisions on final disposal of Form No.6,7 & 8 received during special campaign in the state and ensure distribution of photo identity cards to all the electors. He asked them to be prepared for taking necessary steps once model code of conduct came into force in the state.

Chief Electoral Officer directed that all the financial transactions should be made cashless for all activities involved during course of election. He asked them to complete training programme of officers and officials at the earliest.

For convenience of specially abled persons, Chief Electoral Officer directed to construct ramps at polling stations. The polling stations should be provided telephone network, electricity, water and other basic amenities, he further asked.

Deputy Commissioners apprised that awareness regarding EVM and VVPAT was being provided to maximum number of people in their districts. SVEEP activities are being performed at schools, mahila mandals, yuva mandals and panchayati raj institutions, anganwari workers to seek maximum involvement of electors.
