Shimla: Himachal Pradesh Administrative Tribunal since its inception has received 21,126 applications till 30 November, 2017, out of which 13440 applications have been finally decided.

In addition to above, 360 contempt petitions, 24 review petitions, 29 execution petitions and 5975 miscellaneous applications have also been disposed off during this period.

A Spokesperson of the Tribunal said that 6453 cases were received from the High Court of Himachal Pradesh, out of which Tribunal has decided 1309 cases.

Himachal Pradesh Administrative Tribunal

The Himachal Pradesh Administrative Tribunal was set up in 1986 for quick redressal of grievances of State Government employees regarding their service matters. Justice H.S Thakur was appointed its first Chairman.

Tribunal deals with the dissolution of service matters of the Himachal Pradesh Government employees with regard to their service conditions vis a vis retirement, promotion, transfer & so on. In July, 2008 the then State Government abolished the State Administrative Tribunal and all the pending matters were transferred to state High Court.

With the pressure from the state government employees, the Indian National Congress had promised had made poll promise to re-establish the Tribunal in 2012 and in February 2015 Tribunal has started its functioning. Justice V.K Sharma was appointed its Chairman.
