The state government has submitted report with additional information to the Inter-Ministerial Central Team (IMCT) to recommend financial assistance from the government of India for the losses and damages suffered by the state during monsoon this year.

Additional Chief Secretary, Revenue Manisha Nanda revealed here today that the state government has informed the ICT that the state suffered losses to the tune of Rs. 1994.83 crores during the monsoon.

Nanda said that Public Works Department (PWD) suffered major losses due to damages to roads and bridges. The total losses on this account have been assessed at Rs. 881.24 crore. The losses of Rs. 151.98 crore have been assessed for agriculture department, Rs. 441.83 crore to horticulture department, Rs. 16.03 crore to agriculture and horticulture land, Rs. 6.76 crore to fisheries, Rs. 43.03 crore to housing sector, Rs. 34.46 crore to community assets (urban development) Rs. 430.04 crore to irrigation and public health, Rs. 53.50 crore to state electricity board, Rs. 10 lakh to animal husbandry and Rs. 11.77 crore to education sector. Besides, loss to animals has been assessed to Rs. 87 lakh while gratuitous loss to Rs. 13.72 crore. As many as 343 persons lost their lives due to flash floods, landslides, cloudbursts and road accidents all during the monsoon fury.

Manisha Nanda said that the IMCT had visited the affected parts of the state and had asked the state government to supply additional information regarding the losses and damages during the monsoon.

Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur also held the meeting with the IMCT during its visit to Mandi last month and requested to recommend the Union government to provide maximum financial assistance to the state which suffered heavy losses during monsoon that were worst in last ten years.
