Shimla: Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur today inaugurated Bharat Ratan Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar State Library at Kennedy Chowk near State Vidhan Sabha Shimla. The Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar State Library is constructed at a cost of about Rs. 10 crore and has seating capacity of 120 persons.

Jai Ram Thakur said that the Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar State Library will have a rich collection of over 72400 books which would prove useful to the students, research scholars and general readers. He said that the state government was committed to provide quality education to the youth of the state and opening of this library was a step in this direction.

The Chief Minister said that although the estimate of this building was Rs. 15 crore, but it was completed by spending an amount of about Rs. 10 crore, for which he appreciated the efforts of the state public work department (PWD). This building has book stacking area, reading area, counter, librarian room, issue and return area, computer section, digitisation section, technical section, canteen, binding area, server room and electrical room etc.
